“VIRILITY represents autumn in my series of seasonal butterflies. This one, specifically, is male—opposite of the female for spring. The stance of the body—with arms outstretched—demonstrates freedom and power of expression. His brown body, with highlights of sky blues, becomes the trunk of a tree—feet transforming into roots—grounded, solid, and firm. The wings of their fiery, fall reds, oranges and yellows evoke the male ‘yang’ of the ‘yin and yang’ and are contrasted with pale yellows and the browns of branches surrounding the butterfly. Hints of green remind us of lingering summer and compliment the warm, autumnal palette.” ~Darin Jones
BIO: Darin Jones is a unique and diverse artist--ranging in styles from photo-realism to abstracts and mediums from graphite to acrylic--while creating and applying his art to canvas, textiles, furniture, home décor, messenger bags, mugs, and more. Jones's work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and festivals in New York, Nevada, and Utah, and collected privately throughout the United States and internationally.
